Part of our approach is to provide psychoeducation to help you understand how the mind and body respond to significant and/or sudden changes. This may include learning about trauma’s impact on the nervous system or information on the stages of grief.
We will then put theory into practice by providing concrete, actionable skills to enhance your coping and nervous system regulation. Depending on your needs and goals for therapy, we will incorporate behavioral, body-based, and/or solution-focused methods that will ultimately equip you with tools for overcoming anxiety and fear.
Our clients are intelligent, motivated individuals who benefit from practicing therapeutic skills through the use of workbooks and take-home exercises. Applying these skills outside of the counseling space can reinforce progress, expedite the time spent in therapy, and ultimately bolster your ability to confidently face your life’s transitions.
Big life changes can present any number of obstacles, but this, too, shall pass. The self-care, validation, and skills available through counseling are all you need to navigate grief, loss, change, transition, and life’s ups and downs. Our therapists are here to support you in trusting the process—and yourself—as you take the next step.
Still Unsure If Counseling Is Right For You?
If the transition I’m experiencing is just a normal part of life, why do I need therapy?
While aspects of change, loss, and transition are part of being human, coping skills are learned, not innate. The support and guidance of a therapist can provide you with life-changing tools and perspectives to help you better understand your unique transition and what you need to reduce feelings of fear and anxiety. Finding a meaningful support network is essential to the growth and healing process—and it starts with therapy.
I don’t have time for counseling.
It’s understandable to have worries about time constraints, especially if you are adjusting to a new routine or dealing with additional responsibilities following your transition. However, counseling is actually an opportunity to get your time back. By making time for yourself amid a busy transition and learning skills to navigate all of life’s challenges, you will free up the time and energy anxiety and fear have taken from you.
Furthermore, our counseling services are available online via a HIPAA-compliant platform with evening and weekend times available.
I noticed you don’t take insurance; I’d rather work with a life transitions therapist in my network.
